Austrian Typhoons securing Davos during the World Economic Forum 2020

Eurofighter aircraft from Austria’s Bundesheer were on duty securing Austrian airspace during the World Economic Forum in Davos from the 20th until the 24th of January.

The Eurofighter Typhoon jets were on hand to secure the annual event taking place in Switzerland, under the auspices of the newly-created Air Force Command named Operation Dädalus. The aim of Operation Dädalus was to protect the participants of the World Economic Forum and to monitor the surrounding areas.

Because Davos is close to the Austrian border, Switzerland made a request to secure and restrict airspace over parts of the Vorarlberg and Tyrol (Austria). The fighters were tasked with intercepting any aircraft that entered the restricted airspace without authorisation.
