The Eurofighter consortium welcomes the news that the Government of Qatar and BAE Systems have entered into a contract for the supply of 24 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.
Volker Paltzo, Chief Executive Officer for Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH, commented:
On behalf of the Eurofighter Typhoon consortium, we are honoured to welcome the State of Qatar as our ninth customer, bringing the total number of aircraft ordered for the Eurofighter Typhoon programme to 623.
Charles Woodburn, BAE Systems Chief Executive said:
We are delighted to begin a new chapter in the development of a long-term relationship with the State of Qatar and the Qatar Armed Forces, and we look forward to working alongside our customer as they continue to develop their military capability.
Alongside supplying the Typhoon aircraft, with delivery expected to commence in late 2022, BAE Systems will provide a bespoke support and training package.
The State of Qatar becomes the ninth country in the world - and the fourth in the Middle East - to choose Typhoon. Typhoon operates around the world 365 days a year. Its continuous capability enhancements have produced an advanced swing-role platform which will meet the requirements of the Qatar Armed Forces.
