IDEX - International Defence Exhibition and Conference

Eurofighter is all systems go for its debut at IDEX 2011, the International Defence Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi, which is the largest defence and security event in the Middle East and North African regions.

The exhibition is organised by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, in association with the UAE Armed Forces GHQ, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE and supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

IDEX is a tri-service exhibition with its own purpose-built air-conditioned temporary complex located next to a channel, with live dynamic boat displays berthed alongside visiting naval vessels and daily amphibious and waterborne demonstrations!

The last IDEX held in 2009 attracted 150 official delegations and the UAE Armed Forces announced deals worth AED 18.4bn (US $Sbn), leading the organisers to claim that it was one of the most successful defence shows in terms of signed business agreements. This year at least as many official delegations are expected, together with an estimated 900 exhibitors. The organisers predict that the 2011 exhibition will surpass all records for contracts signed and secured.

This year's IDEX will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from Sunday 20th to Thursday 24th February 2011 inside 12 exhibition halls, and outside static display areas.
Eurofighter will have  its own pavilion in the outside area, CP-406 with 80 sqm fully packed with our usual high-tech displays.
 
IDEX is a show for the Gulf Region, which is a geographical area fundamental to the future of the Eurofighter programme. If we exclude KSA, in the near future the Gulf Region is predicted to order more than 150 fighters, with the UAE alone totalling at least 60.
