The Eurofighter Typhoon has provided a boost to both technology and employment in the European aerospace industry, guaranteeing for partner countries growth, capacity, a good cost/efficiency ratio and global competitiveness.

The Eurofighter Typhoon it is not only the best multi role combat aircraft in service and available on the market but also offers a variety of industrial benefits. These include the maintenance of an independent European combat aircraft industry allowing independence from the USA. The programme has further contributed to equipment standardisation amongst the partner nations (and export customers) and has contributed to maintaining an internationally competitive European aerospace industry required for a strong European defence technological and industrial base.

The Eurofighter Typhoon supports large numbers of jobs, many of which are highly-skilled and specialised. Total employment on the Eurofighter Typhoon programme is estimated by Eurofighter at some 100,000 personnel from 400 companies across Europe:

• Germany: 30,000 personnel
• Italy: 24,000 personnel
• Spain: 22,000 personnel
• UK: 40,000 personnel.
