The chronology of the programme
The Eurofighter Typhoon has been leading the way in new generation, multi-role aviation since 1994. With 707 aircraft on contract and 559 aircraft ordered by six nations (Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Austria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and in service with all nations, it is Europe’s largest military collaborative programme delivering cutting-edge technology, strengthening Europe’s Industrial base and position in the global market. January 2011
The operational fleet of Eurofighter Typhoons in service since the second half of 2003 achieved the impressive milestone of 100,000 flying hours in January 2011.
March 2011
The Typhoon began combat missions in Libya on 21st March 2011 as part of operation Odyssey Dawn decided by the United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1970 & 1973.April 2011 RAF’s Typhoon start to provide a ground attack capability in addition to Tornado GR4 aircraft as British forces continue to support NATO operations in Libya. The Typhoons are carrying Enhanced Paveway II bombs for the operation. Typhoon down selected in India for the 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft tender launched by the Ministry of Defence.
June 2011
The Luftwaffe Jagdgeschwader 74 celebrated its 50th anniversary. October 2011 The 300th Eurofighter Typhoon produced delivered by Cassidian to the Spanish Air Force, Ejercito del Aire. This milestone makes the Eurofighter Typhoon the only new generation multi-role aircraft to reach the impressive figure of 300 examples in service.
